Volcano Minigame: Tracks, Abilities, and Rewards
The Volcano Minigame is a platformer inside Nightwater. You finish tracks to earn Data, spend it on upgrades, and unlock abilities. This guide covers the known problems and their fixes.

I can't reach the next track
Symptom: You finish a track but the path to the next one is blocked or you cannot find the starting point. Cause: Each track requires a specific ability. You need Dash to reach Track 2, Double-Jump for Track 3, and Wall-Run for Track 4. Without the required ability, the route is physically impossible.
Fix: Unlock the abilities in order. Spend Data on Dash first, then Double-Jump, then Wall-Run. The community guide says that having the right ability is essential just to get to where the next track begins. Also, Track 4 can be reached from Track 1, so after finishing Track 3 you have to go back to the first area to find the entrance.
I keep missing the moving platforms
Symptom: You try to land on moving platforms but fall short or overshoot. Cause: The dash ability sends you forward quickly, and the timing of the platforms changes each attempt. Players report that dashing at the wrong moment causes misses.
Fix: Watch the platform pattern before you dash. Try to find a position where a dash lands you exactly on the platform at the right moment. Since you can fully move mid-air, you can adjust your direction and sprint while airborne to correct your trajectory. The community guide confirms you can move mid-air, so use that to fine-tune your landing.
My abilities don't refresh after a wall-run
Symptom: You use Double-Jump, then hit a blue bouncy pad or a wall-run, and your Double-Jump is gone. Cause: The blue bouncy pads and wall-runs do not refresh your abilities. If you spent your double jump earlier, you won't have it available again following the wall-run.
Fix: Plan your ability usage. Save your Double-Jump for after the wall-run if you need it. You can also leave the wall mid-run to get more height or distance, which may let you skip the need for a second jump.
I don't know which ability to buy first
Symptom: You have Data but are unsure what to spend it on. Cause: The game does not force a purchase order, but the tracks are gated by abilities. Without Dash, you cannot reach Track 2; without Double-Jump, Track 3; without Wall-Run, Track 4.
Fix: Buy Dash first, then Double-Jump, then Wall-Run. That is the only order that lets you progress through all four tracks. You can spend Data on other upgrades like speed, but the abilities are mandatory for progression.
Track 4 feels impossible
Symptom: Players report that Track 4 is the hardest, especially without upgrades. Cause: The track requires Wall-Run and precise use of moving platforms. The community guide notes that Track 4 can be reached from Track 1, so you have to backtrack.
Fix: Practice the wall-run sections. The blue panels on the walls let you run along them. You can jump off the wall mid-run to get extra height. Also, the developer patch 1.0.12 made Track 4 easier, so if you are on an older build, update the game. The patch notes say "Made Track 4 easier" on September 21, 2026.
I finished all tracks but got no achievement
Symptom: You completed the final track but the WR Any% achievement did not unlock. Cause: The achievement requires finishing the final track, but you may have done it without meeting the condition. The community guide states that completing the last course unlocks the WR Any% achievement, but it does not specify if you need to do it without upgrades.
Fix: Confirm you actually reached the end of Track 4. The guide says you need the Wall-Run ability to reach Track 4, so if you skipped it, you might have taken a different route. Also check your achievement list. If it still does not unlock, no confirmed fix is documented yet; players report it works normally.
I can't find the entrance to Track 4
Symptom: You finished Track 3 but the path to Track 4 is not visible. Cause: The entrance to Track 4 is located near Track 1, not near Track 3. The community guide explicitly says: "Track 4 is accessed from Track 1, so after completing Track 3 you must return."
Fix: Return to the starting area of Track 1. Look for a path or door that leads to Track 4. You will need Wall-Run to use the panels along the way. If you do not have Wall-Run, you cannot reach it, so buy that ability first.
I don't know what Data is for
Symptom: You earn Data after each track but are unsure how to spend it. Cause: Data is the reward currency for the Volcano Minigame. You spend it on upgrades such as speed and new abilities. On the last course, you may also use Data for lasting improvements outside the minigame, like in other minigames.
Fix: Open the upgrade menu after finishing a track. Prioritize the abilities (Dash, Double-Jump, Wall-Run) before other upgrades, because they unlock new tracks. Once you have all abilities, spend Data on speed or other useful upgrades. The permanent upgrades on the final track are optional but help your main factory.
